Moscow is the
capital of Russia. It was founded in 1147 by Prince Yuri the
Long-Armed (Dolgoruky). Today his monument is situated opposite
the Moscow Mayor's Office in Tverskaya Street. Moscow is the
largest political, economic, cultural and administrative center
of the country.
Moscow is
situated on both sides of the Moscow River. The heart of Moscow
and the main tourist attractions are the Kremlin, Saint Basil's
Cathedral and Red Square. There are always a lot of people
there. The Kremlin includes twenty towers, the most beautiful
and majestic of which is, probably, the Spasskaya Tower. All
Russian people celebrate New Year to the ringing of the
Spasskaya chimes. On the territory of the Kremlin you can also
see the magnificent historic cathedrals, such as the Cathedral
of the Archangel and the Cathedral of the Annunciation. The
Moscow Kremlin serves as the official residence of the President
of Russia.
In fact, Moscow
is famous all over the world for its museums and galleries. The
most well-known among them is the Pushkin State Museum of Fine
Arts which houses the finest collection foreign art dated from
ancient times to modern days. We should also to mention the
Tretyakov Picture Gallery with its masterpieces of Russian
pictorial art. The gallery has an excellent selection of the
best works by prominent artists, such as Ilya Repin, Ivan
Shishkin, Marc Chagall, Yuri Pimenov and others.
In Moscow there are a lot of theaters, such as the Taganka
Theater, the Lenkom Theater, the Bolshoi Theater, the Academic
Satire Theatre and many others. The most well-known of them is
the Bolshoi Theatre, which has always been one of the major
symbols of our great nation and its culture.
Our capital is
the center of science and education. Here one can find lots of
higher educational institutions, such as universities,
conservatories and academies. Lomonosov Moscow State University
is the oldest and the biggest educational institution in Russia.
It was founded in 1755. The University is the most important
scientific and cultural center, including twenty nine faculties,
ten research institutions and other organization departments.
The University has over 40,000 students, including about 5,000
international students from almost 100 countries.
There are several
airports in Moscow. Among the most popular are Domodedovo,
Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo international airports.
The Moscow Metro
is not only a comfortable and rapid means of travelling — Moscow
is known for its heavy traffic — but also one of the main
tourist attractions, as well as one of the most beautiful and
the most visited in the world.

памятник ему стоит напротив московской мэрии на Тверской улице.
Москва располагается на обоих
берегах Москва реки. В центре Москвы находятся главные
туристические достопримечательности: Кремль, Собор Василия
Блаженного и Красная площадь. Там всегда очень много людей.
Кремль включает в себя двадцать башен, самая красивая и
величественная из которых, пожалуй, Спасская башня. Все россияне
отмечают Новый год под бой ее курантов. На территории Кремля
можно также увидеть изумительные исторические соборы, такие как
Архангельский и Благовещенский соборы. Московский кремль также
является официальной резиденцией Президента России.
Следует отметить, что Москва также
славится во всем мире своими музеями и галереями. Самым
известным из них является Государственный музей изобразительных
искусств имени А.С. Пушкина, в котором хранятся великолепная
коллекция художественных произведений зарубежного искусства с
древнейших времен до наших дней. Следует также отметить
Третьяковскую галерею с ее шедеврами русской живописи. В галерее
хранится превосходная коллекция работ таких выдающихся
художников, как Илья Репин, Иван Шишкин, Марк Шагал, Юрий
Пименов и других.
В Москве множество театров, таких

подразделения. В Московском университете обучается более 40

Московский метрополитен является не
только удобным и быстрым видом транспорта — Москва славится
своим интенсивным движением на дорогах, — но также одной из
главных туристических достопримечательностей и одним из самых
красивых и посещаемых мест в мире.
